What's on

The same handful of nights, every week, done properly. Plus the things we only do when the season allows it.

Every week

  • Wednesday4pm – 6pm

    Oyster hour

A dozen east coast oysters and two glasses of dry Tasmanian sparkling for $58. Walk-ins only, first in best dressed, and we stop when the tray is empty.

  • Thursday6.30pm start

    Six glasses, one region

Josie pours six wines from one Tasmanian region and talks for about four minutes total. $45 a head with bread and cheese. Twelve seats at the marble bar, bookings taken.

  • Friday8pm – midnight

    Records and late plates

Someone brings a milk crate of vinyl, the kitchen keeps sending terrine and potatoes until eleven. No cover charge, no queue policy, just get here early if you want a table.

  • Sunday2pm – 6pm

    Long lunch

One shared menu at $65 a head, laid down the long table in the back room. Bring a book, stay for the afternoon, and be home before dark like a sensible person.

Two glasses of red wine and a plate of oysters on ice, on a marble bar top under a small lamp.

Through the year

  • July

Dark and cold, a week of braises

Nine nights of one big braise a day, served with mash and a glass of something red and warming. We list the dish on the door at 3pm each day.

  • September

    New release tastings

Four Thursdays running, we open the fresh-release whites while they are still nervous and young. Winemakers are not always in the room, but the wine is.

  • November

    Wharf table

One long table set outside on a still evening, forty seats, one menu, tickets released a month ahead. Postponed rather than cancelled if the weather turns, which it will.

  • December – January

    Summer opening on Tuesdays

We open the extra night from December to the end of January, mostly for oysters, chilled reds and people who have finished work early.

Want a night of your own?

The back room takes 40 seated and 70 standing, and it is yours for a birthday, a wake, an engagement or a small wedding. Tell us the date and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
